Police are looking for two women and a man, who allegedly gave a bounced cheque of Ksh600, 000 to an electronics trader in Nakuru on Saturday, September 14.
The two women who wore religious habit, also known as the Catholic nuns’ outfit, were captured on CCTV on September 14 inside Jose Electronics shop in Nakuru, where they gave out a cheque after “acquiring” 17HD Samsung and Sony TV sets whose individual prices ranged from Ksh20, 000 to Ksh50, 000.
The women were in the company of another suspect, a man who appeared to be their driver according to the CCTV footage.
After receiving their package, the three got into their car, a Toyota Voxy, and sped off.
Police say surveillance footage showed the suspects, who claimed to be nuns from St. Joseph’s Seminary Baraka in Nakuru, had visited the shop a day earlier and bought electronic products in cash.
The owner of the shop said he was shocked to be told the cheque which he had received from the buyers on September 14 was “fake”, and, therefore, he couldn’t get Ksh600, 000 written on the order.
The owner of Jose Electronics reported the incident at Molo Police Station on October 3.
Police say they are still looking for the suspects, who are yet to be spotted on the streets of Nakuru since the day they allegedly conned the electronics trader.
