Coronavirus: Narok County to fumigate open-air markets twice a week

Narok County has commenced the fumigation of open-air markets within to allow traders to conduct business without fear of contracting the coronavirus.

Narok County’s Health minister Morgan Siloma, who led the drive, said the fumigation will be done twice a week with a limited number of traders and buyers allowed to enter the market.

Siloma the exercise will also be done Suswa, Kilgoris, Ololunga and Ewaso Ngiro sub-counties.

The minister said that they are focused on ensuring that traffic within the town is controlled to prevent members of the public from contracting Covid-19.

Narok County Commissioner Samuel Kimiti said all traders must adhere to the directive by the security team to ensure that proper hygiene standards are maintained.

Further, he directed that all taxis will be operating from the William Ole Ntimama Stadium in a bid to reduce the number of Kenyans operating in the town.

He reiterated that the curfew is still on urging members of the public to cooperate with security agencies.

Meanwhile, police officers in Narok received a rare treat from the Narok Chamber of Commerce Chairman David Mpatian who gave them over 100 loaves of bread and 10 cartons of milk as they continued working late at night.

Narok North OCPD Patrick Shiundu who received the donations lauded the chamber of commerce for their kindness, terming it a rare gesture.

Mpatian said the police in Narok county have shown a high level of professionalism and deserve some appreciation.
