Caleb Amisi bashes Kaluma over constant social media rants

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has fired shots at his counterpart, George Kaluma, who is the member of Parliament for Homabay County, just after the recent fallout on social media.

Caleb, while speaking to a local radio station on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, made remarks about the Homabay Member of Parliament, alluding that he has never set foot in his constituency, while he is always busy on social media issuing statements and commenting on issues.

“Some have never even set foot in their constituencies, yet you’ll find them on Twitter (X) insulting us, the likes of Kaluma. They don’t even know the boundaries of their own constituencies,” stated Amisi.

Similarly, while addressing other members of parliament who also do not set foot in their constituencies, the Saboti MP reiterated that such leaders have no capacity to make decisions for Kenyans.

“Some of the people we serve with in Parliament, both ODM hardliners and those from UDA, have no capacity to reason on behalf of Kenyans,” said Amisi.

How a section of MPs made it to Parliament

Likewise, the legislator revealed that there are some of the leaders in Parliament who made their way to parliament by just saying Raila Odinga’s name and eventually had their way.

“Their way to parliament is just saying Baba, ODM, that is how they go to parliament,” he added

In addition, Amisi recalled his moments in the National Assembly as Saboti Member of Parliament as not so an easy task, unlike his other counterparts.

“Some of us did not just go to parliament by shouting baba, we convinced,” noted Amisi.

He further noted that he is not a beneficiary of any party.

Amisi and Kaluma recent clash

Amisi’s remarks sparked just days after a heated exchange between him and his Homa Bay Town counterpart following government tenders issuance remarks by Amisi suggesting that all government tenders in Kakamega County should be awarded exclusively to locals and not to individuals from other communities.

In a statement on Saturday, March 8, 2025, Kaluma condemned Amisi’s remarks, which he made during the burial of Kakamega businessman Cleopas Shimanyula’s father, describing them as highly exclusionary and stating that they failed to reflect values of love and inclusivity.
