Billy Mwangi has narrated his ordeal in the hands of his abductors who captured him on December 21, 2024, and later released him on January 6, 2025.

In an interview with Sarah Mwangi, Mwangi revealed that he was abducted on Saturday, December 21, 2024, after he went to a barber shop and left shortly after the barber, he said, was busy.

Upon exiting the barber shop, he disclosed that he saw a white double-cabin car whose occupants marched in his direction and bundled him into the waiting vehicle.

“I expected to go and have a shave then come back and watch football with my dad because that is my normal weekend routine,” he said.

Mwangi shaved by abductors

The shave, Billy noted, would happen elsewhere in the hands of his abductors, under the strangest of circumstances according to him.

“I was hurriedly picked up, bundled into the car and blindfolded. I do not recollect hearing any fracas during the abduction,” he narrated.

“Personally, I was shaved. I don’t know when it was done because I was scared and didn’t know anything happening around me at the time,” he revealed.

Five of the abductees released on Monday, January 6, 2025, were clean-shaven after weeks in the hands of their captors.

Mwangi stated that he was dropped somewhere in Nyeri from where he boarded a public-service vehicle to his parents’ home in Embu.

Frantic efforts

After frantic efforts to get their son back home, Mwangi walked home in the early morning surprise to his parents who had been in and out of courts in an attempt to secure his release.

“I would love to thank my dad who has been up and down in court to ensure the son is released,” Mwangi said.

He indicated that the harrowing experience he went through for 15 days was something he would not wish for his enemy.

He declined to reveal what he was fed on during his time with the abductors.

“Abduction is one of the worst things that can make you cry and lose your mind,” Mwangi added, warning social media users against posting extreme criticism online.

“You should not post extreme content online. It is good to criticize the government on small (sic) things but let them not go to extreme things that can lead you into trouble,” Mwangi advised.

Steve Mbisi Kavingo is yet to be seen after he was abducted. Yet, Billy Mwangi, Peter Muteti, Gideon Kibet, Ronny Kiplangat and Bernard Kavuli have been found and reunited with their families.
