Babu Owino: Migori reception proves my voice still matters despite critics

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has shown excitement after receiving a warm reception on Wednesday, October 2, 2025, during the funeral of the late former MP Dalmas Otieno in Migori.

Through a post on Facebook on Friday, October 3 2025, Babu thanked the locals for what he described as a show of love and dignity.

In his message, he said the people of Migori gave him a heartfelt welcome that reminded him of his place among Kenyans.

“Thank you, the incredible people of Migori County. The warmth, love and honour with which you received me touched the deepest part of my heart. Every handshake, every smile, every cheer, I felt it all,” he wrote.

He went on to say that the residents had reminded him that his voice still matters despite criticism from other quarters.

“You reminded me that, despite the noise, despite the judgment of others, I still have a place in the hearts of many. I do not take that for granted. From the bottom of my heart, thank you,” he added.

Message of gratitude

The legislator also took a spiritual tone in his post, attributing his resilience to divine intervention.

“To God above, thank You for the unmerited favour You have shown me, doors You have opened, hearts You have softened and strength You have given me for the journey ahead,” he shared.

Babu further noted that Migori residents had reassured him that love would always triumph.

“Migori, you reminded me that I still belong, that my voice still matters, and that love will always rise above hate,” he said while concluding his statement with words of gratitude.

The Embakasi East MP was among several national leaders who attended the funeral ceremony that brought together family, friends and supporters of the late Dalmas Otieno.

His message has since attracted wide interaction online, with thousands of Kenyans reacting to his emotional words.
