According to the survey, 41 per cent of respondents cited peace in the country as the main reason behind their positive outlook. The sentiment was particularly strong in the North Eastern region, where 55 per cent said peace remains a reassuring factor in their judgement of the country’s trajectory.
Another 37 per cent of Kenyans pointed to government performance, saying the administration is doing well in managing national affairs. This view was most pronounced in the Western region, where 53 per cent of respondents credited the government with guiding the nation in the right direction.
Stabilising economy
Perceptions of the economy also played a role in shaping public opinion. Twenty-eight per cent said the economy is stabilising, suggesting that while challenges remain, there are signs of gradual improvement that have not gone unnoticed.
At the county level, leadership was also cited as a factor in optimism. Thirteen per cent of respondents credited their governors for working well, with the Western region again showing stronger confidence at 18 per cent.
Local development efforts, service delivery, and county projects were highlighted as tangible indicators of progress.

A smaller group, 6 per cent of respondents, said the cost of living is affordable, indicating that not all households are experiencing the same level of economic pressure. For this minority, the affordability of basic goods and services has contributed to a belief that the country is on the right path.
While the broader national debate continues to focus on economic hardship, unemployment, and corruption, the Infotrak data demonstrates that sections of the population still view the country with cautious optimism.
Peace, stability, and functioning governance structures remain central to this outlook. The findings also show regional differences in perceptions, with North Eastern and Western Kenya showing stronger positivity compared to other areas.
