6 die in Makueni road accident
By K24 Digital Reporter, November 22, 2025Six people, among them students, were killed and scores were injured in an accident that involved a 14-seater matatu and a lorry at Ngoluni market along the Itangini-Tawa road in Makueni County.
Confirming the incident that occurred on Friday evening, November 21, 2025, Mbooni East Sub-County police commander Eprhahim Karani said the speeding lorry hit the stationary matatu from behind while passengers were boarding at the market.

“Unfortunately, we lost six people, among them students, and about six others sustained serious injuries,” Karani said.
Ten survivors, among them a student, were rushed to Kisau Healthcare for treatment before they were transferred in ambulances to Makueni Referral Hospital.
It is reported that among the deceased are secondary school students who had just completed their Kenya Secondary School Education examination.
Photos taken by witnesses who were present immediately after the accident show bodies covered with clothes beside the wreckage of the matatu.

A witness told K24 Digital that he saw a school box and books at the scene.
Karani attributed the accident to speeding, appealing to drivers to be more alert to avert such incidents.
He said the driver of the lorry escaped immediately after the accident, and the police were looking for him for further probe into the incident.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to the Tawa mortuary.
