A 40-year-old woman has been charged with obtaining Ksh200,000 from two students of Kenya Medical Training College in exchange for ensuring they qualify in their final examination which they had failed.

Sabrina Ahmed Ismael who presented herself to the two students as a government worker at the Ministry of Education is alleged to have committed the offence on April 14, 2021.

Court documents indicate that her intent was to defraud Fatuma Adan Gulia, a former student of KMTC, the said amount in the pretext of granting her KMTC final exam qualification.

According to the police cover report, the complainant Fatuma Adan Gulia was a student at KMTC before she graduated.

“On March 3, 2021, she finished her final qualification exams and the results were released on March 29, 2021, where she failed one paper in General Nursing and she was looking for someone who could remark her exam and that of her cousin who failed too,” read the report in part.

In the process of looking for a solution to their challenge, Sabrina who is known to Fatuma told the two to part with Ksh100,00 each and have their concern sorted.

It is alleged that on April 14, 2021, Sabrina introduced them to her accomplice Phoebe Onyango where the two struck the deal and made payments.

The complainant wired Ksh150,000 via MPESA to Sabrina and an additional Ksh50,000 was sent to Phoebe Onyango.

They waited for 3 weeks for the result, but nothing happened. The accused allegedly blocked the complainant and refused to refund the money.

The accused pleaded not guilty before Nairobi Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi and was released on a bond of Ksh50,000 with alternative cash bail of Ksh 30,000.
