Three men died after a lorry rammed the motorcycle they were riding on from behind near Sachangwan graveside on the Nakuru-Eldoret Road on Saturday evening.

According to eyewitnesses, the three victims were heading to the Sachangwan trading centre when the lorry rammed them from behind.

Two of them died on the spot while the third one succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Molo Sub-County Hospital.

Nominated MCA Rachel Maru, whose nephew was among the victims, expressed shock over the unfortunate deaths.

Ms. Maru said the deaths have hit the family hard, saying it would weigh heavily on the family to beat the government directive on the 24-hour timeline for burial.

“Surely we don’t know how we are going to bury three people in a village. I have been assisting accident victims and survivors, but for my family, I was confused to even call an ambulance,” she said.

The MCA, who has always been a Kenya Red Cross first responder, said that some trucks are speeding to beat the curfew.

“The side heading downwards has no shoulders to help motorbikes get to in case of emergencies,” she added.
