Sixteen more people have tested positive for coronavirus, bringing the total number of infections in Kenya to 142.

Health Chief Administrative Secretary, Dr. Mercy Mwangangi, said that 15 of the new cases are Kenyans and one Nigerian.

Dr. Mwangangi said that the government had tested 530 samples in the last 24 hours.

“Of the 26 new coronavirus cases, nine are male while seven are female,” said Dr. Mwangangi.

Speaking during the Sunday briefing on April 5, 2020, Transport CS James Macharia said that the government has extended the suspension of all international flights for 30 days effective tomorrow.

CS Macharia said that countries seeking to evacuate their nationals must give 72-hour notice while cargo flights will continue operations.

The Transport CS also fired a warning to matatu operators against flouting directive on the number of passengers, saying they risk losing their licences if caught overloading.
