Churchill to host comedy show in tribute to Fred Omondi

Comedian and Radio host Daniel Ndambuki alias Churchill will host an all-star comedy show in Carnivore to celebrate the late Fred Omondi who died in a road accident on Saturday, June 15, 2024.

In a statement on his Instagram channel, Churchill gave out a star-studded list of showbiz personalities all lined up to grace the event aimed at raising funds for the departed comedian.

In the list of scheduled for the Friday, June 21, 2024, event are Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwuor alias Jalas, Terence Creative, Mamito, Nasra, Pof Hamo, MC Antonio, Noriega and Jemutai.

The other showbiz personalities to grace the event are Chipukeezy, Eddie Butita, Sammy Kioko, Tom Daktari, Sleepy Davvy, YY, Teacher Wanjiku, Kreative Generation, Consumeta, Rib Crackers, Malboro, DJ Shiti, Captain Otoyo, MCA Tricky, Jasper Munene, Oga Obinna and Adhis Jojo.

Before branching into club hosting, Fred Omondi entertained as one of the co-hosts in Ndambuki’s weekly Churchill Show in the company of several other comedians.

The event dubbed One More Laugh for Fred will be at the Carnivore Simba Salon and will cost a thousand shillings payable upon entry from 6 pm.

Fred Omondi’s death

Fred Omondi died along Kangundo Road after the motorcycle he boarded rammed head-on with a Mitsubishi bus near Caltex petrol station.

According to police reports, the motorcycle in which red Omondi was a pillion passenger was driving on the wrong side of the road at the time of the 6 am accident.

“The accident involved a Mitsubishi bus (registration number KCC 126A) operated by Forward Sacco and driven by Stephen Maina of Kayole, who was heading towards the CBD. A motorcycle coming from the opposite side of the road (near Consolidated Bank) collided head-on with the bus. As a result, the pillion passenger, Fred Odhiambo Omondi, died on the spot,” police said.

“The driver sustained serious injuries to both legs and fractures to both hands. He was rushed to Mama Lucy Hospital for treatment,” the police added.

In his words, Eric Omondi, Fred’s elder brother and fellow comedian said: “Go well, brother.”

The comedian would later be mourned by a host of celebrities and politicians in the country remembering him for his lively skits and performances.
