Police in West Pokot county on Monday confirmed that security operatives thwarted what could have been a bloody banditry attack in the Chesogon area.
According to a police report, the officers had escorted local Pokot farmers to harvest mangoes on their farms.
Everything turned out well until armed bandits attacked the farmers disrupting the exercise.
“The security team engaged the bandits in a shoot-out and called for reinforcement. As a result, the attackers were overpowered and repulsed,” the police report stated.
The police noted that the disruption was short-term as normalcy was restored, and the farmers completed their harvesting and transported their harvests.
