The Kenya Meteorological Department has announced an end to the hot and dry weather conditions in parts of the country as the regions are set to experience rainfall in the next seven days.

The weatherman in a seven-day forecast for February 28 to March 6 2023 predicted rainfall will be experienced in Rift Valley and the Lake Victoria Basin for the duration of the forecast.

“Forecast for 28 Feb to 6 March 2023. 🌦️⛈️Rainfall is expected over the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin as well as the South and Central Rift Valley during the first half of the forecast period,” Kenya Meteorological Department announced.

The weatherman, however, said that the dry spell will continue for the rest of the country even as Rift Valley and the Lake Victoria areas experience rainfall.

“The rest of the country is likely to be generally sunny and dry,” the statement said.

The met department further warned that average daytime temperatures will reach the high of 30 degrees Celcius over most parts of the country.

The weatherman also noted that parts of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley and the North Rift Valley will experience an average nighttime temperature of fewer than 10 degrees Celcius.

“🌡️Average daytime (maximum) temperatures are likely to be high (more than 30°C) over most parts of the country. 🌡️Average night-time (minimum) temperatures are likely to be low (less than 10°C) over some parts of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley and the North Rift Valley,” the weatherman said.

Kenya usually experiences two rainy reasons: March to May (known as the “long rains”) – April being the wettest month – and November to December (known as the “short rains”).

The months of June to October are usually the driest in the year.
