Former president Uhuru Kenyatta has revealed the number of guns owned by his two sons, Jomo and Jaba Kenyatta.

Speaking with the media on claims that his sons have illegal firearms, the former president denied the allegations confirming all the firearms were licensed.

Uhuru revealed that he opted for his sons to register for guns after the Kenya Kwanza administration rejected his plea to extend his children’s security for a year.

“I know there is no provision in law to extend the security of my children despite my request. I, therefore, encouraged them to apply and they followed due process,” Uhuru told the media.

According to Uhuru, this is why his sons own three guns each, which were forced on them after the government withdrew their security details.

“My son Jomo has never been interested in weapons. He was forced to apply for a gun after his security was withdrawn,” Uhuru said.

On the same, the former head of state explained that his youngest son also uses his guns to scare off birds at their Mwea Irrigation Scheme farm.

“My younger son has an interest in guns and it’s because of his hobby of shooting birds in the Mwea Irrigation Scheme to scare them away. They are for animals and he applied after I was out of office,” Uhuru said.

Uhuru’s sit-down with the media comes a few days after alleged officers in plain clothes raided his eldest son’s home in Karen looking to recover alleged 28 illegal guns allegedly kept in the compound.

The former president also made it known that his daughter Ngina does not own any firearms.
