In the accident that occurred at 3 pm, a matatu that was ferrying students from Nakuru to Marigat town had a tyre burst and rolled several times killing the two and injuring other passengers.

Confirming the incident, Gilbert Tarus, a doctor posted at the Marigat Catholic mission disclosed that they were notified that an accident had occurred within the area.

Upon their arrival at the scene, they managed to take charge of the situation and rushed the injured victims to Baringo County Referral Hospital (BCRH) and others to Nakuru County Hospital for further treatment.

“Around 3 pm, we received a call in the facility notifying us of an accident that had occurred at around Radat centre, and that casualties were in the Sub-County hospital in Marigat, upon arrival, we observed that most of the passengers were students and were in critical condition two were unconscious while ten were a bit stable,” he stated.

Ismail Bett, a driver warned fellow drivers against careless driving and overspeeding urging them to drive slowly to be safe.

He also called on the relevant authorities to put more bumps in place in order to reduce the number of road accidents.

“We have lost a number of people, including drivers, students and residents, I urge fellow drivers to drive slowly but surely in order to reduce accidents chances, relevant authorities should also chip in by putting road measures in place to avoid loss of lives,” Bett stated.
