Kenya Power issued a notice informing Kenyans of a scheduled blackout on Thursday, March 20, 2024.
The utility firm in the notice on its website said that the power interruption is necessary to facilitate maintenance and upgrade of power lines to the network.
“Notice is hereby given under Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules that the electricity supply will be interrupted as here under: (It is necessary to interrupt supply periodically to facilitate maintenance and upgrade of power lines to the network; to connect new customers or to replace power lines during construction, etc.),” Kenya Power said.
The utility firm noted that the Thursday power interruption will affect Nairobi, Homa Bay, Kirinyaga, Nyeri, Kiambu County and Uasin Gishu Counties.
Nairobi
Parts of Nairobi County will be affected by an eight-hour blackout, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The areas affected include; Kasarani PCEA Church, Njeri Apts, PGM Prestige Court, Legacy Apt, Eldorado Apts, Camp David CITAM Church & adjacent customers.
Other parts of Nairobi that will be affected include; Parts of General Mathenge Rd, Parts of Peponi Rd, Pepoi Gardens, Parts of Ring Rd, Eldama Ravine Rd, Parklands Mosque, Parts of 2nd & 3rd Parklands, Suswa Rd, Ngao Rd, Parts of Mutati Rd, Parts of 4th Parklands, Golden Towers, Eldama Court & adjacent customers.
Homa Bay
Parts of Homa Bay County will experience power interruptions from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
The areas affected include; Kosele, Nyaligosi, Duga, Kiwiro, Namba Saye, Namba Rael, Karabok Junction, Nyatwere, Waradho, Kachien & adjacent customers.
Kirinyaga
Parts of Kirinyaga County will not have electricity supply from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
The affected areas include; Mururi Mkt, Kianjiru Mkt, Gacatha Mkt, Part of Kutus Town, Governor’s Office, Kwa Kibera, Achievers Sch, Mutungara, Abel Nyamu, Chinise Site, Daraja ya Mungu, Kutus & adjacent customers.
Nyeri
Parts of Nyeri County will be in blackout from 8: 00 am to 5:00 pm.
The areas affected include; Gathunguri TBC, Waihara Ciaraini TBC, Thokoni TBC, Kigumo TBC, Karega TBC, Kabebero Mkt, Kihuri Mkt, Kihuri Water Works, Githimbai Mkt, Kiandemi TBC, Kiriti TBC & adjacent customers.
Kiambu
Parts of Kiambu County will experience power outage from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The areas affected include; Ndula, Delmonte Camp, Kilimambogo TTC, Magogoni, Kiboko Farm, Kenchic, Makutano, Jawabu Quarry, Helena Quarry, Rubiru, Fourteen Falls, Kenchic, Dimken Farm, Duka Moja, Ngoliba, NYS, Kyeleni, Zambani, Donyo Sabuk, KWS, Valem Quarry, Rubiru, Macvast, Kwa Jimmy, Kabaa, Chui Rapids, Kahonoki, Nginyi Pumps, Twin River Est & adjacent customers.
Uasin Gishu
Parts of Uasin Gishu County will experience power interruptions from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
The areas affected include; Mwithiriria, Eldorock Pri, Munyaka Mkt, Munyaka Stage & adjacent customers.
