Man lynched after he was caught stealing at construction site in Kayole

A middle-aged man has died after sustaining serious injuries during a mob attack in Kayole Nairobi.

Police reports indicate that the man had stolen a metal grill and three spades all worth Ksh8,000 after breaking into a store at a local construction site.

The owner of the house raised an alarm and the man who is yet to be identified was attacked by a group of angry members of the public who gave him a dog’s beating.

“At around 3:00 am, the unknown thug broke into the house of John Ndung’u which is under construction and got into the store where he stole a metal grill and three spades valued at Ksh8,000. He raised alarm and the deceased was subjected to mob justice by angry members of the public who had quickly responded,” police said.

A crew from Twiga Security who were on patrol in the area responded to the scene and found the victim writhing in pain with multiple injuries.

They rushed him to Mama Lucy Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The stolen items have since been kept as exhibits and the body of the deceased moved to City Mortuary awaiting identification and autopsy.

In a separate incident, a 32-year-old man succumbed to injuries after he was subjected to mob justice after he and his accomplice were found robbing a woman in Ruthimitu, Riruta.
