Chuka Igambangombe constituency Returning Officer Josephine Mwiti has asked residents to be patient and allow IEBC to finalize tallying.
By Wednesday morning, only 58 of the 234 polling stations had submitted ballot papers and boxes at the Constituency tallying centre at Chuka Boys High School, confirming delays in the tallying process.
“This exercise can go up to 7 days after elections but our expectation and hope is to deliver credible and reliable results within the shortest time possible”, Mwiti said.
According to Mwiti, 225 polling stations had already submitted presidential results, with 9 remaining.
Confirming delays experienced at Mubukuro Primary School where missing senatorial ballot papers delayed voting, Mwiti noted that the station had closed voting at 6 AM on Wednesday and tallying of votes was underway.
In Maara Constituency, 169 out of 185 polling stations have so far presented their papers to the constituency tallying centre at Chogoria Boys High School, with the exercise expected to be complete later in the afternoon.
In Tharaka Constituency, 50 out of 247 have been able to present their papers to Tharaka Boys High School which is the constituency tallying centre.
