Detectives in Mombasa nab suspect with suspected heroin worth Ksh3.5M

Detectives from the Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) jointly with those from the DCI’s Anti-Nacortics Unit (ANU) have arrested a suspected drug peddler in Mombasa.

In a statement, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the suspect, Benta Akinyi Ogola, was carrying narcotics suspected to be heroin worth Ksh3.5 million.

“A Transnational Organized Crime Cartel has been dealt a blow following the arrest of one of their actors namely Benta Akinyi Ogola and subsequent recovery of narcotic drugs suspected to be heroin with a street value of Ksh3,540,000,” DCI stated.

The suspect was carrying a brown carrier bag with the suspected narcotic drugs when he was arrested by detectives.

“The Suspect was apprehended by TOCU detectives based in Mombasa and ANU detectives based at Malindi who while acting on intelligence leads intercepted the suspect who was carrying a brown carrier bag with the suspected narcotic drugs,” DCI added.

The crimebusters said she will be arraigned before the court as the search for other players in the cartel continues.
