Police are investigating the circumstance in which a form one student from Ndaluni Secondary school, Kyome/Thaana ward, in Mwingi West, Kitui county beat his classmate to death.

Confirming the incident, Mwingi West OCPD Kazungu Charo said the two were involved in a fight where one beat the other till he fell unconscious.

“As he was being rushed to Mwingi level 4 hospital, he died on the way,” the police boss said.

Charo said the culprit has since been arrested and is being held at Migwani police cells pending further investigations.

The OCPD and his police officers expressed concerns at how the school authority with over 127 teachers failed to notice the fight.

“What was reported to us is the death of the students and not what led to his death. Thus we call for more investigations to ascertain the genesis of the fight and where the school officials were at during this disturbing occurrence,” he stated.

OCPD said the matter is now being investigated by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Charo also took the opportunity to condole with the family of the deceased emphasizing that he will ensure justice is served.
