Mumias East MP Peter Salasya and Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale are engaged in an online brawl.

The brawl started after Khalwale criticised the MP for violently attacking a man during a burial ceremony in Kakamega County.

In a statement after the MP was recorded attacking the man, Khalwale called for retrospective voting against the MP.

“Our leaders have gone mad. From an MP shooting a DJ to another one shooting a man dead, to others pitting rival goons against each other and now to this! Kenyan voters must seriously retrospect,” Khalwale stated.

In response, the MP accused Khalwale of orchestrating a fight against him for political mileage to resuscitate his “dwindling political following”.

“The reason people like Boni Khalwale and Fernandes Barasa are fighting me is because they don’t have a following… if today I call a meeting of 20,000 people they will come. Them they can’t (sic). I will not accept any intimidation. Leadership comes from God as long as mtu wa chini ako satisfied with my leadership hawa wengine tutakimbizana nao tu,” Salasya stated.

Khalwale however denied initiating any fight against the first term MP, insinuating that he had no reason to fight him.

“Sasa ona huyu! Eti Khalwale fighting Salasya! For what?” Khalwale posed.

In a rejoinder, Salasya told off the senator, claiming he will never be the governor of Kakamega, a seat he has been eying for long.

Dr Boni Khalwale, CBS you will never be the Governor of Kakamega,” Salasya posted on his official Facebook page.

Salasya attacks man

In the video shared online recently, the controversial MP attacked a man while addressing mourners in the western region of Kenya.

The MP was arrested after the attack and was released on Ksh50,000 cash bail pending his arraignment on Tuesday, January 16.
