Three employees of telecommunication company, Safaricom, were killed after the car they were travelling in lost control and rolled several times along Embu-Kiritiri road on Monday, September 26, 2022.

While confirming the accident, Embu West Sub-county Police Commander Julius Kyumbule said the staff were on duty when they were involved in the deadly crash.

The victims are believed to be part of a team that distributes credit cards and offer other services for the company in the county.

5 other Safaricom staffers injured

The police boss said the driver of the vehicle and two other occupants died on the spot while five others sustained serious injuries.

Locals, who responded to the scene of the accident, had a hard time retrieving the survivors trapped in the wreckage.

“The Safaricom staff who we suspect are sales persons were moving from Embu town to Kiritiri then upon reaching Donbosco it is when the accident occurred. Three died on the spot and the other five sustained serious injuries,” Kyumbule said.

The injured persons were rushed to Embu Level 5 Hospital for treatment and the bodies of the deceased moved to the same hospital mortuary awaiting identification.

While urging motorists to exercise caution while on the road, Kyumbule said investigations aimed at establishing the cause of the accident are ongoing.
