President William Ruto has extended warm New Year wishes to the Republic of China as they welcome the year 2024.

In a statement on Saturday, February 10, the Head of State conveyed greetings on behalf of the government and the people of Kenya.

“On behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of Kenya and that of my own, I convey to Your Excellency and through you to the Government and People of the People’s Republic of China, best wishes for a Happy Chinese New Year 2024,” Ruto expressed.

Kenya and China celebrated the 60th anniversary of longstanding diplomatic relations on December 14, 2023.

Ruto emphasized the warmth and strength of the ties between the two nations, built upon friendship, mutual trust, and commitment to progress.

“Over the period, the two countries have forged and enjoyed warm and strong relations based on friendship, mutual trust and commitment to progress, and which we have both nurtured to a strategic partnership not only for mutual benefit,” President Ruto remarked.

With the onset of the Year of the Dragon, symbolizing good health, luck, power, strength, and wisdom, President Ruto expressed his desire for Kenya and China to continue progressing along the path of their strategic partnership.

“As you welcome the Year of the Dragon, which symbolizes good health, good luck, power, strength and wisdom, we desire that the Government and people of Kenya will progress along the path that we have jointly charted for the Kenya-China strategic partnership,” he stated.

President Ruto assured the Chinese community in Kenya of the support they need to feel at home and contribute to the partnership between the two countries.

“I also confirm to you that members of the Chinese community in Kenya receive the support they need to feel at home away from home, as they contribute to the transformative partnership between Kenya and China,” Ruto affirmed.
