The Public Service Commission (PSC) has declared the position of chairperson of the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) vacant following the exit of Eliud Wabukhala.
In a notice on Friday, PSC invited applications from suitable candidates to fill the post.
“Pursuant to Sections 10(1) of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission ( Amendment) Act, 2011 ( Amended 2015), the Public Service Commission hereby invited applications from suitably qualified Kenyans for the position of Chairperson of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption,” the notice reads in part.
All applications should reach the commission on or before February 2, 2023, by 5:00 pm.
Qualifications
For appointment as Chairperson of the anti-graft agency, PSC said, a person should hold a degree from a university recognised in Kenya.
They should also have knowledge and experience of not less than 15 years in any of the following fields: Ethics and Governance, Law, Public Administration, Leadership, Economics, Social Studies, Audit, Accounting, Fraud Investigation, Public relations and Media or Religious Studies or Philosophy.
Wabukhala exited EACC on Tuesday, January 17, after a six-year term in office.
In a statement, EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak lauded Wabukhala’s work saying he leaves behind a stable, professional and reliable anti-corruption agency.
“On behalf of the commissioners, Executive Management and staff at EACC, I thank the outgoing chairperson for the focussed and steady leadership that he has provided to the commission in the last six years,” Mbarak said in a statement.
According to the EACC boss, the outgoing chairman was instrumental in shaping the strategic and policy direction of the commission which resulted in significant milestones in the fight against corruption and promotion of ethics in the country.
“EACC appreciates that Archbishop Wabukala leaves a stable, professional and reliable Anti-Corruption Agency that is committed to effective discharge of its mandate to the people of Kenya. EACC commends Archbishop Wabukala for his contribution in the fight against corruption and wishes him God’s blessings in his future endeavours,” Mbarak added.
