Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have launched a manhunt for a middle-aged man accused of defrauding his employer of Ksh26 million.

According to the DCI, Naftali Ondiaga Santos, working jointly with one Jack Moses Amollo, stole the money from Takaful Insurance of Africa Limited.

The duo is alleged to have colluded with an unidentified accountant on diverse dates between January 2, 2019, and January 29, 2021, to siphon a total sum of Ksh26, 364, 131 from the company’s coffers before taking off without a trace.

Police arrest Santos’ accomplice

Police later managed to track down and arrest Omollo but his accomplice remains at large.

In a statement on Monday, June 20, DCI boss George Kinoti appealed for assistance from the public to apprehend the suspect who is also linked to several fraudulent dealings.

“Santos, the disreputable criminal, and a native of Mwein village in Kapkangani, Nandi County, is currently on our radar and we urge all peace-loving citizens to augment our detectives in bringing the miscreant to book for the law to take its course,” DCI said while releasing the photo of the suspect.

Intelligence reports, DCI said, indicate that Santos is currently operating in Kitale PSV stage as a loader.

“In case of any information regarding his whereabouts, we urge members of the public to share the same anonymously through our #FichuakwaDCI toll-free number 0800 722 203,” DCI added.
