Police have denied reports that an examiner was recently arrested after she was allegedly caught stealing clothes at Alliance Girls High School where marking of Kenya Certificate of Secondary School Examinations (KCSE) exams is ongoing.

Kikuyu OCPD Catherine Ringera told Citizen TV that the reports appearing on a section of the media were false.

According to the police boss, the matter had been misreported from a leaked CCTV footage capturing the incident said to have occurred on Thursday, January 5.

Ringera said police visited the school on the same day after receiving reports of the alleged theft but later learnt that the incident was blown out of proportion.

She said the examiner captured in the viral video had mistakenly picked her colleague’s garment while collecting hers from the clothesline.

The owner of the clothes found them missing and reported the matter to the school administration.

The management resolved to retrieve the footage to find out who had picked the clothes. The examiner was identified and asked to produce the clothes.

The teacher, the OCPD said, surrendered back the clothes and the matter was immediately resolved.

The officer also confirmed that contrary to reports on a section of the media no teacher had been asked to record a statement or detained in connection with the incident.
