Pangani: Painter killed after crane malfunctions, throws him off

A painter lost his life while his colleague sustained serious injuries after a crane they were using to paint a house in Pangani malfunctioned.

The two were painting a building on Chai Road, in Pangani, Nairobi on Saturday when the crane they were using to elevate them developed mechanical defects.

The duo was thrown off the crane and landed on the ground. One painter died on the spot while his colleague sustained serious injuries.

The deceased died instantly after sustaining serious injuries to the head. Police arrived at the scene and moved the body to the mortuary.

The survivor sustained a broken leg and is currently said to be in stable condition at the hospital.

In a separate incident, police in Boment arrested a female student for stabbing her boyfriend in the chest.

Bomet Central sub-county deputy police commandant Bashir Ali told the media that the third-year student got upset after her boyfriend broke up with her.

The 21-year-old had visited her 25-year-old boyfriend at his home when he informed her that he was breaking up with her.

Enraged by his decision, the female student got hold of a kitchen knife which she used to stab her boyfriend.

The boyfriend, who collapsed after the attack, was rushed unconscious to Tenwek hospital.
