Police officer loses firearm, uniform to unknown criminals after being drugged

A police officer attached at the Kongowea police station has lost his official firearm and uniform, following a drugging incident.

According to police, the officer was snatched off a Ceska pistol serial number A050504 loaded with 16 rounds of ammunition and his mobile phone during the incident by unknown people.

In an OB report at Kongowea police station, the officer identified as Joanes Omondi was found lying unconscious in a corridor in Mary Joy Academy by a member of policing community.

“Through a phone call, community policing officer reported to the officer commanding station(OCS) Kongowea that there was an officer in blue attire lying unconscious in a corridor around Mary Joy Academy. Officers drawn from the national police service (NPS) rushed to the scene and found Omondi lying down unconscious in uniform without his shirt with a Police radio beside him, ” the police report read in parts.

The report further disclosed that the officer was on duty at the station on the day when the incident happened.

Omondi is currently undergoing treatment as the directorate of criminal investigations (DCI) takes over the matter.
