NBA set to open new basketball offices in Nairobi
By K24 Editorial, September 22, 2023The National Basketball Association(NBA) is set to open new offices in Nairobi in November 2023.
This follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) with Youth Affairs, Arts and Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba in New York where President William Ruto was also present.
In a statement by State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed, the agreement will also see phenomenal development of basketball in Kenya.
He said teachers, coaches and scouts in grassroots will be offered basketball training under the Talanta Hela Initiative.
“A school and community-based grassroots talent development under the Talanta Hela Initiative, including training of teachers as certified basketball coaches and scouts,” the statement read in parts.
Adding;
“There will be the Development of Basketball infrastructure, including Basketball courts in schools, communities and neighbourhoods, and an elite arena for hosting top-level competitions.”
