Detectives drawn from the Child Protection Unit, on Wednesday, August 3, conducted a successful rescue mission of a Form Two student who was on the verge of undergoing Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in Naira Sarisa, Narok county.
DCI says the minor reached out to her school Head Girl in Nakuru after learning that her parents were planning to force her to undergo the illegal cultural practice.
The Head Girl then informed the DCI who immediately started their investigations.
“Through a phone call, she immediately alerted her school head girl who was with her parents in Thindigua, Kiambu county, about the evil plans hatched by her parents,” wrote DCI on Thursday.
“Immediately, the head girl called our detectives, and a team was dispatched to Narok, for the minor’s rescue.”
The minor is currently in a safe house and will continue her stay there until further directive.
Meanwhile, her parents have been apprehended and held in police custody to assist with the investigation.
