Over 30,000 candidates in Nandi County sat for the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations which began today across the country.

A total of 33,208 standard eight candidates registered for KCPE in Nandi county.

The candidates in the six sub-counties sat for the KCPE examinations in the 850 registered examination centres

Nandi County Director of Education Harrison Muriuki said all was well for the 2023 KCPE and KPSEA examinations in the region

“As you are aware The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education exams as well as KEPSEA for grade 6 have officially started today October 30. So far so good,” he said.

Muriuki said they expect candidates to maintain discipline, insisting that cases of exam cheating will be dealt with accordingly.

“Rehearsals took place on Friday, October 27. We remind the candidates of what we expect from them and the consequences of any wrongdoing or breach of KNEC regulations,” Muriuki noted.

Nandi county has a total of 27, 265 grade six candidates sitting for KPSEA examinations registered in 894 centres.

The 2023 standard eight candidates began their examinations sitting for mathematics in the morning and in the afternoon they will be sitting for English language as well as English composition.

KCPE test will end on 1st November.

There are 1,282,574 candidates set to sit the KPSEA assessments across the country and as last year, the assessment will be done to monitor learner achievement and not the placement of candidates.
