Nairobi sex worker charged with stealing her ‘customer’s’ phone valued at 15k

A Nairobi commercial sex work was on Friday, November 4, 2022, charged with stealing from her male ‘customer’ a mobile phone valued at Ksh 15,000.

Jane Kirigo Nderitu, who was arraigned at Milimani Law Courts, was charged with one count of stealing, an offence that occurred on Thursday night, November 3.

The incident occurred at Latema road in Nairobi county where she stole the phone valued at Sh15,000, the property of Joshua Mawira.

According to the police report, the complainant Mawira on Thursday evening had arrived in Nairobi from Eldoret, he went to one of his relatives residing in the Koja area.

However, to his disappointment, when he arrived, he found that the relative had been visited by his wife and there was no room for him.

He, therefore, decided to go and look for a guest room to spend the night in. He went to Latema road and that is when hell broke loose.

He was accosted by two sex workers who operates within that area. One of the sex workers approached him from the front and got hold of him and started hugging and caressing him.

She was joined by her colleague who hugged the man and caressed him from behind.

As the accused caressed him from the front managed to snatch his TECNO CAMON 15 valued at Ksh 15,000.

Kirigo then passed the phone to his colleague and started walking way with the stolen phone.

As the accused continued to caress the complainant and convincing him to offer pleasure, Mawira immediately noticed his phone was missing.

“The complainant started demanding his phone, but the ladies declined to return. He went to a point of pleading with them to return the phone, but his pleadings fell on deaf ears,” Police claim in the report.

” The ladies then parted ways each going in a different direction but the complainant followed Kirigo still pleading with her but she never gave in to his pleads, ” the report by the police reads.

During the chase, the complainant managed to come across police officers who were on patrol reported to them the incident and the officers managed to arrest one of the ladies.

Appearing before Resident Magistrate Caroline Muthoni, Kirigo denied the charge of stealing from a person and was released on a bond of Ksh 50,000 with an alternative cash bail of Ksh 20,000.
