Two minors who were strangled to death and their bodies set on fire by their father, following a domestic row, have been buried at a Mombasa cemetery.
The deceased Daniel Chacha aged eight and his younger brother David Boke aged four were buried in a solemn ceremony that was attended by hundreds of Mombasa residents at Makutini cemetery in Nyali sub-county on Tuesday, October 11, 2022.
During the emotional send-off, the mother of the two minors Maria Boke sat at a distance watching in disbelief as the bodies of her two children were interred.
Postmortem
Postmortem results conducted last week at the Coast General Referral Hospital indicated that the minors were strangled before their bodies were set on fire.
Mombasa county police commander Stephen Matu said that an inquest file had been opened to establish the circumstances under which the two minors died, following the discovery of their father’s body who was the main suspect in the matter
Last week on Wednesday, the body of their 55-year-old father Jason chacha, who was being sought by police in relation to the deaths of the two minors, was discovered hanging outside a house in Lesisia, Taita Taveta county.
He is believed to have committed suicide after he fled to Taveta following the gruesome murder.
Chacha is alleged to have killed the minors in a revenge mission after he picked up an argument with his wife who he had threatened to kill.
