A 34-year-old man succumbed to burns after setting a car he was riding on Sunday with his daughter and wife at Nasra Estate, Njiru, Nairobi County.

Police say the man identified as Denis Musyoka was in a heated disagreement with his estranged wife Elizabeth before the incident happened.

It is alleged that he had been asking the wife to drop their two-year-old at his place for a father-daughter bonding in vain.

On a fateful day, he is said to have boarded Elizabeth’s car where he stabbed her multiple times on her neck with a kitchen knife.

“The lady managed to jump out of the vehicle and was rescued by good samaritans. The deceased then set himself on fire in the said vehicle together with her daughter,” police said on Sunday.

Elizabeth and her daughter were both rushed to Mama Lucy Hospital where she is in stable condition.

Meanwhile, the child who is in critical condition has been transferred to the Kenyatta National Hospital for specialised treatment.

Musyoka’s body has since been moved to the Mama Lucy Hospital morgue as detectives in Kayole launch investigations into the incident.

Police have recovered a knife and a partly-burnt five-litre jerry that they suspect was used to transport at the scene.
