A 27-year-old man in Kaiboi village, Kapsimatwo sub-location in Tinderet, Nandi County has allegedly stabbed his 22-year-old younger brother to death following a conflict.

According to the police, the two brothers engaged in a fight at around 5 am, during which the elder brother picked up a knife and stabbed his younger sibling, causing excessive bleeding.

“At Kaiboi village, two brothers fought around 5 am. 27-year-old Rodgers Kiprono stabbed his younger brother Silas Kiptanui, 22,” the police said in a statement.

The injured brother was rushed to Nandi Hills Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The police said Kiprono has surrendered himself to the authorities and been put in custody.

“The suspect, Rodgers Kiprono, has surrendered himself to the police and he is now being held in custody at Songhor police station,” the police report further revealed.

The body of the deceased lies at the Nandi Hills morgue, awaiting a postmortem examination, as the police commence their investigation into the incident.

Cases of murder and gender-based violence have been rampant in the area, and residents have called on the community to engage in guidance and counselling.

“It was in the same sub-location, Kapsimatwo, where, last week, we lost another brother who was hit with a blunt object after allegedly being found in somebody’s house. The month before, another murder incident was reported in the same sub-county. The authorities and religious leaders need to do something; it is becoming worse,” Paul Yego, a resident asserted.
