A murder suspect is currently being held in police custody after a woman died following a fight in Kibonjos, Baringo Central.

It is said that the suspect identified as Silas Barjipa, who is the husband of the deceased, allegedly killed Florence Kibor at their home on Monday, May 29, 2023.

Confirming the incident, Baringo Central Deputy County Commissioner Reuben Ratemo said the matter is under investigation.

“It’s true that a woman was reportedly murdered by her husband. Although we are yet to establish the whole truth, residents say the suspect was drunk and had been quarrelling with the wife on the fateful night,” Ratemo stated.

The police boss says an arrow which might have been used to execute the murder was also recovered.

“I understand that the police have recovered an arrow. According to the residents, the man may have stabbed the wife with an arrow, killing her,” he added.

Police say if found guilty, he will be arraigned in court with murder charges.

Meanwhile, the man remains held at the Kabarnet Police Station and the deceased body has since been Baringo County Referral Hospital morgue.
