Magata Bruce Mackenzie from Gilgil Hills Academy in Nakuru is the top candidate in the 2021 KCPE exam, Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha announced on Monday.

Magata scored 428 out of the possible 500 marks.

Momanyi Ashley Kerubo from Makini School emerged second after scoring 427 marks.

Six candidates tied at position three after scoring 426 marks.

“I wish to thank all teachers and students for the good performance during this challenging period,” Magoha said.

Some 320 students in seven centres were found to have committed irregularities during the exam.

Magoha said those who participated in the cheating will face the full force of the law.

“In the next two weeks, you will see what will happen to them. I have talked to our colleagues from the Ministry of Interior to do the necessary,” he stated.

The total number of students who sat for the 2021 KCPE exam were 1,225,597 in 28,248 centres spread countrywide.

52 per cent of the candidates were boys, while 48 per cent were girls.

Candidates can access their results by sending their index number followed by the initials KCPE (in capital letters) to 20076.
