True to his words, former Meru senator Mithika Linturi has finally shaved his hair.
Linturi, an ardent supporter of President William Ruto, had vowed to only shave his hair after the latter’s victory.
In his words, the former senator had committed that he would only shave after Ruto’s opponents are defeated and the former Deputy President is sworn in.
He had also ordered those on a similar journey of keeping beards with him to cut them off so that they can help build the nation presentably.
Today, September 13, 2022, Linturi went to a barber and shaved all his hair in what he describes as a symbol of a new era in the country.
In a Facebook post, Linturi says the new regime will enable Kenyans to go about their businesses without intimidation and blackmail.
He went on to state that after years of suffering, Kenyans had finally earned their freedom which he says will facilitate prosperity for all.
“Today Kenya heralds a new political order. Kenya ushers in a new political dispensation under the leadership of my friend, H.E President Dr William Samoei Ruto. I promised that on the day President Uhuru Kenyatta hands over to Dr Ruto and leaves office, I would simultaneously be shaving to signify a new era devoid of political intimidation and blackmail. I have shaved today! Freedom is finally here!” he posted.
On Sunday, September 11, Ruto’s deputy Rigathi Gachagua had ordered Linturi to cut off his hair ahead of an assignment that the 5th president might give him in his new administration.
“Mithika Linturi alisema hatanyoa ndevu mpaka wale watu wanaonyanyasa wengine wameenda nyumbani. Therefore, Mithika Linturi, the moment William Ruto places his Bible down on Tuesday, ensure that you shave your beard within one hour.” Gachagua said during an interdenominational prayer session in Meru.
