Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) is seeking to recruit 1,500 assistant warders and rangers.
In a notice on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, KWS announced 150 vacancies for the position of cadets (assistant warder I) and 1,350 openings for the position of rangers.
“The Service operates in remote environment and seeks to recruit 1,500 young and dynamic individuals as cadets (Assistant Warden I) – 150 and Rangers – 1,350 who can endure the condition for training and deployment to various conservation areas in response to the wildlife protection challenges currently being experienced in the country,” KWS said.
Cadets
Interested job seekers applying for Cadet (Assistant Warden I) positions must fulfil the following requirements:
Must be a Kenyan citizen.
Must be a holder of a Bachelor’s degree minimum of 2nd class honours lower division in Wildlife Management, Natural Resources Management, Environment Science, Range Management, Veterinary Medicine, Criminology and Security Management, Tourism Management, Education, Sociology or Community Development from a recognised institution.
Must be 28 years old and below.
Must be of good health and physique
Must not have a criminal record.
Must be ready to undergo mandatory paramilitary training for a period of nine months and thereafter be deployed to the field.

Applicants can obtain the prescribed application form free of charge from either the nearest KWS National Park Station or download the forms online on the KWS website.
Once you have obtained the forms, fill/complete the prescribed areas.
Attach copies of relevant academic and professional certificates, testimonials, National ID Cards/Passport and detailed CV indicating work experience, current remuneration and employer, names and contacts of at least two referees.

Rangers
Interested job seekers applying for Ranger positions must fulfil the following requirements:
Must be a Kenyan citizen.
Must be a holder of a Kenyan National Identity Card/Passport.
Must hail from the County of recruitment.
Must possess a minimum mean grade of ‘D’ (plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination or its equivalent from an examination body recognized in Kenya.
Must be aged between 18 and 26 years.
Must be physically and medically fit.
Must not have a criminal record.
Must be ready to undergo mandatory paramilitary training for a period of six months and thereafter be deployed to the field.

The recruitment exercise for KWS Rangers will take place from April 15, 2024, to April 19, 2024. Candidates are required to turn up at the recruitment centres in appropriate running gear.
