A middle-aged man has killed himself by hanging in his rental house in Katyethoka area, Kitui Central.

Confirming the incident, the area assistant chief Martin Ndetema said the deceased was found hanging in his house by a boy he has been training in welding.

“A boy who he has been training passed by his place and found him hanging in the house, he then informed the landlord,” Ndetema said.

According to Ndetema, the man separated from his wife in February and they have been living in different rentals in Kitui town.

Ndetema says they suspect that his separation from his family could have been the reason he decided to commit suicide.

“The deceased separated from his wife in February and we suspect this might have led him to hang himself,” Ndetema said.

Meanwhile, he has asked his area residents to report to the government whenever they are faced with difficulties in life for counselling.

“I am urging people to always choose to come for counselling whenever faced with difficulties in life rather than taking away their lives,” Ndetema said.

The body of the deceased has been picked up by the police and taken to Kitui Level 4 Mortuary as police commence investigations on the incident.
