Residents of Kirerema in Gikumbo Village, Karumandî ward of Gichugu Kirinyaga county were thrown into a rude shock after the body of a Primary school teacher was found dangling from a tree inside a coffee farm.
The 45-year-old man identified as Antony Comba reportedly committed suicide in the wee hours of the morning.
Confirming the incident, Kirinyaga East Sup County Police Commander Edward Ndirangu said that the body of the deceased was taken to Kibugi Mortuary, Kutus town and investigations have been launched.
“The body was taken to Kibugi morgue but the deceased had not left a suicide note,” he noted.
According to Comba’s mother, Rose Nyambura, the father of three left his house slightly after the wife went to sleep.
Nyambura said that his wife found the husband missing in the house where she alerted her inlaws who began searching for him around the farm.
“We suspect that he left the house at around 1 am. His wife had left him in the living room watching TV but when she woke up, she found him missing,” an emotional Nyambura said.
His father, Julius Njuki noted that they immediately began to comb the compound in search of his son.
“We searched around the farm but we did not find him. We searched from around 1 AM to about 2 PM then we went to sleep,” he noted.
The body of the deceased Primary school teacher was discovered by his mother hanging from a Macadamia tree on their coffee farm.
“When his mother woke up, he came to the farm and that is when she noticed the body and started screaming for heal. That is when we came,” said David Njogu an area resident.
Njogu further notes that another man had committed suicide a few months ago on the same farm.
“It is mysteries that about two months ago, another man took his own life on the same farm,” he said.
