A tragic incident has been reported in Kilifi, where a man choked on his saliva during a moment of intimacy with his girlfriend, resulting in his untimely death.
According to police records under OB number 47/22/05/2024, Cecilia Chepkirui reported to Kilifi Police Station that her boyfriend, Bernard Omayo, aged 30, had visited her rented residence.
While engaging in foreplay, Omayo reportedly choked on his saliva and collapsed.
Chepkirui sought immediate assistance from her neighbours and rushed Omayo to Kilifi County Hospital. Unfortunately, upon arrival, medical personnel pronounced him dead.
“She then rushed for assistance from her immediate neighbours and rushed him to Kilifi County Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival,” part of the police report reads.
Police officers visited the scene to document the incident.
Omayo’s body currently rests at Kilifi County Hospital Morgue, awaiting a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
The case has been transferred to officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Kilifi North for further investigation.
Chepkirui, the suspect, will provide her statement to the police following the completion of the postmortem examination.
Another strange death
The incident in Kilifi comes months after another bizarre death was reported in Kericho County.
In late January 2024, a 60-year-old man was found dead in a lodging.
The body of David Kiplangat Ronoh, an elder in a local church, was found in the lodging at Kapsoit trading centre.
Belgut sub-county police commander Charles Kibati said that the deceased was in the company of an unidentified young woman.
“He was found dead with no visible injuries. He had no clothes at the time,” police said.
The woman is said to have reported the matter to the establishment’s management before fleeing the premises.
Police officers from Kapsoit added that a used condom was found at the scene.
