Three men were on Saturday, June 25 2022 lynched by an irate mob in the Marurui area of Kasarani Nairobi after stealing Ksh 900,000 from an M-Pesa agent.

According to a police report seen by K24 Digital, the three robbed Joseph Kariuki Ng’ang’a after attacking him at gunpoint at around 10 pm when he was closing the shop before jumping into a motorcycle and speeding off.

Ng’ang’a chased them using a vehicle along the Northern bypass towards Kiambu as he shouted for help.
The motorcycle was stopped by the members of the public who stoned the three before setting them on fire.

“The victim followed them with his car while hooting and calling for help where the members of public managed to get hold of the three and subjected them to mob injustice after which they all succumbed to the injuries,” the police report read in part.

The three thugs had robbed the victim of Ksh 900,000, a Del laptop worth Ksh25,000, and airtime scratch cards of around Ksh300,000.

Kasarani police recovered gun

Police immediately arrived at the scene and recovered a Jericho Pistol belonging to the National Police Service but none of the stolen items was found.

Confirming the incident, the Kasarani police boss Peter Mwanzo said an investigation is underway to establish the owner of the recovered pistol.

The bodies were taken to the City mortuary awaiting postmortem and identification.
