Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Susan Nakhumicha has declared that Gatundu Level IV Hospital in Gatundu South Constituency, Kiambu County is poorly equipped to meet people’s demands.

CS Nakhumicha said this after conducting a spot check as part of the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) assessment.

She said the findings revealed a hospital struggling with insufficient equipment to cater to the needs of the community it serves.

“The spot-check revealed a hospital poorly equipped to meet the demands of the people of Gatundu South.

@MOH_Kenya will work with the County Government to support and supervise an urgent upgrade of crucial hospital equipment in radiology for example. I have asked KMPDC to urgently inspect the hospital and submit a report that will form the basis of discussions between my office and the Governor’s office,” Nakhumicha stated.

Nakhumicha emphasized the significance of addressing the shortcomings to ensure the provision of adequate healthcare services.

The CS announced that the Ministry of Health (MOH) would collaborate with the County Government to offer support and supervision for an immediate upgrade of critical hospital equipment, particularly in the field of radiology.

Furthermore, CS Nakhumicha has directed the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) to conduct an urgent inspection of Gatundu Level IV Hospital.

She said the goal is to compile a comprehensive report detailing the current state of the facility.

This report will serve as the foundation for discussions between the Health Cabinet Secretary’s office and the Governor’s office.

Despite the challenges posed by inadequate infrastructure and equipment, Nakhumicha commended the hospital staff for their dedication to maintaining a high level of service delivery.
