Nandi: Girl sits for KCPE exam in hospital after giving birth

A 15-year-old girl from Nandi Hills who delivered a baby hours before the KCPE national exams was forced to sit for her paper in the hospital.

According to Nandi East Deputy County Commissioner Leonard Mgute, the pupil who comes from Tinderet Sub County delivered safely and did her examination at Nandihills Sub-county hospital.

“She comes from a different Sub County of Tinderet but we have been notified and ours is to facilitate the candidate in doing her KCPE, ” the Commissioner noted.

According to the nurse who sought anonymity said the girl is in stable condition and they are monitoring her health conditions even as she writes her national Examinations

The number of candidates registered for the KCPE national examinations in Nandi County has recorded an increase to a total of 28,029 candidates in 871 centres According to Nandi county commissioner Herman Shambi

Shambi further said the total number of candidates sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education KCSE is 21,688 candidates in 246 centres.

“So far all is well no hiccups reported as the National examinations begin. We have 14,074 boys and 13,955 girls registered for KCPE examinations whereas 10,820 boys and 10,868 girls have been registered for KCSE,” Shambi noted.

On the report concerning grade six candidates in Nandi who are also sitting for KPSEA, the county commissioner says they registered a total number of 27,005 candidates in 921 centres of which 14,010 are girls whereas 12,995 are boys.

The grade six and std 8 candidates are expected to finalise their national examinations on Wednesday, November 30.
