Self-confessed member of the freemason secret group and Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier says the oath-bound society does not offer human sacrifices, contrary to widespread rumours.

Appearing in an interview with NTV, Rachier sought to clarify that the group which is originally a men-only affair is also not associated with Satanism or any form of devil worship.

“I have heard some saying we sacrifice family members; there is nothing like that. In fact, it is universally practiced worldwide,” he stated.

He noted that the group is independent and does not lean on any religion but revealed that the organization welcomes Holy books during the members’ meetings and, specifically prefers reading Bible books such as Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, and Kings.

“Masonry is not based on any particular religion; we have Muslims in freemasonry, Christians, Buddhists, so there is no reference to issues of devil worship whoever the devil is,” he said.

Adding;

“We do not invoke the name of Jesus Christ in our meetings.”

He also noted that the group’s main aim is to propagate charity.

“Most people in freemasonry are simple Kenyans, some of them businessmen, some are medical practitioners, Judges of our courts; there are very few politicians,” he said.

Rachier joined freemasonry in 1994 after being introduced by two of his friends and has since become a senior member.

“There are 3 degrees (junior, craft, master) but there are others that go on until the highest which we call the 33rd degree and that’s symbolic, that’s the age of Jesus. I am now at the 30th degree,” he stated.
