Kenya Power announces scheduled blackout for Monday
By K24 Editorial, April 7, 2024Kenya Power has announced a temporary electricity interruption scheduled for Monday, April 8, affecting parts of Embu County.
In a statement shared on Sunday, April 7, the utility company cited network maintenance as the reason for the interruption.
“Good Evening. The listed areas will be affected by planned power interruptions tomorrow (8th April 2024). The interruption is part of network maintenance.”
The affected areas include Masinga and Msingini. The blackout is scheduled to occur from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. local time.
Residents of Masinga Town, Msingini, Msingini Resort, Mutwamwaki, Kalundu, Matithini, Tulimiyumbu, and adjacent customers will be affected.

Electricity interruptions
Sunday’s electricity interruption affected four counties namely; Uasin Gishu, Mombasa, Nyeri and Kilifi counties.
In Uasin Gishu County, parts of the area including Roadblock and Maili Nne experienced power interruptions from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The affected locations include Raiply Industry, Pipeline, Mti Moja, Kahoya Est, Roadblock, Khetias S/Mkt, Maili Nne Est, Majengo Catholic Church, Kiplombe, Ziwa Center, Maji Mazuri Flowers, and adjacent customers.
In Nyeri County, disruptions were in parts of Nyeri Town from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., affecting areas such as Maathai S/Mkt, Nyeri Police, Samrat S/Mkt, Chieni S/Mkt, Equity Bank, Safaricom Ltd, Multichoice Offices, Governor’s Office, Cooperative Bank, Absa Bank, Peak Business Centre, and adjacent customers. Additionally, other areas in Nyeri from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., including Highlands’s Minerals, Agriplast Limited, Eliezer Ltd, Mathari Hosp, Cocacola Water Pump, Outspan Medical College, Chania Rwamba, Italian Memorial Church, and adjacent customers, experienced interruptions.
In Kilifi County, several areas were affected from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., including Kilifi Township, Kilifi Prisons, Bofa Residential, Bofa Quarries, Baobab Hotel, Kilifi Hotel, Kilifi Bay Hotel, Kilifi County Hosp, Kiwandani, Sea Horse Hotel, St. Thomas Mkoroshoni, Kibaoni, Navy, Pwani Univ, Desalination Plant, Rojo, Kakanjuni, Kasava, Baricho, Vitengeni, Milore, Lango Baya, Mavueni, Dsitsoni, Chasimba, New Life Ministries, Mwarakaya, Jaribuni, Kakanjuni, Ganze, Vitengeni, Sokoke, Matano Manne, Palakumi, Mwapula, Dzikunze, Mnarani, Kilifi Plantation, Vipingo, Vipingo Industries, Shauri Moyo, Kadzinuni, and adjacent customers. Moreover, in Vipingo, Kikambala, and Kanamai, the outage occurred from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting various establishments and residential areas.
Lastly, parts of Mombasa County including Shanzu, Utange, and Kiembeni experienced power interruptions from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The affected locations included Mshomoroni, Vikwatani, Mtopanga, Junda, Kiembeni, Bamburi, Utange, Kadzandani, Kashani, Kwa Bullo, Mwembelegeza, Bombolulu, KRA Customs, Naivas Nyali, Baobab Rd, Third Ave, Milele Beach, Pirates, Sai Rock Hotel, White Sands Hotel, Neptune, Travelers, Pride Inn Hotel, Shanzu, Majaoni, Shimo la Tewa Prison, Mama Ngina Girls High Sch, and adjacent customers.
