Police in Ruaraka police station have launched a probe into how three workers at a construction site in Eastleigh, Nairobi, lost their lives due to negligence by the landlord.

According to the officers led by the Ruaraka Deputy OCPD Willy Kubano the construction of the building had been suspended by the National Construction Authority (NCA) in March this year following an incident where one person lost his life.

The Authority also assessed the building and concluded that continuing construction was unsafe.

Despite the suspension, constructions went on as normal leading to the death of one Julius Wekesa, 36, who died on Tuesday after he fell from the third floor of the building.

Ilikuwa Tuesday naambiwa kwamba mume wangu amepata ajali… alienda Monday kukawa hakuna kazi akaenda Tuesday,” the wife of the deceased told a local publication.

The latest incident has left the authority wondering how the constructions were ongoing when a suspension order was announced.

Residents noted that the construction went on a day after the order was made and so far three people have lost their lives.

“Kila floor imekuwa ikiua watu…wakati waliweka marking the following day kazi ilikuwa ikiendelea,” one Amos Maraga stated.
