Detectives apprehend suspected bandit in Baringo, recover 2 rifles

Detectives have apprehended a suspected bandit and seized two assault rifles during a targeted operation in Baringo County’s Tiaty West Sub County.

According to a statement issued by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the arrest was made as a result of concerted efforts guided by actionable intelligence.

Detectives tracked down the suspect identified as Lonyangapat Piranyang Komole to his hideout within Adoket village.

“DCI detectives have arrested one suspect and recovered two assault rifles during an operation in Baringo County’s Tiaty West Sub County. Acting on actionable intelligence, the sleuths stealthily traced Lonyangapat Piranyang Komole to his hideout within Adoket village where he was apprehended,” the statement read in part.

DCI revealed the operation led to the apprehension of Komole at his residence. A detailed search of the suspected bandit’s house revealed a cache of weapons, including two AK47 rifles.

Detectives noted that the recovered firearms were loaded with 10 and 5 rounds of ammunition, respectively.

“A detailed search was conducted inside the suspected bandit’s house where the detectives managed to recover two AK47 rifles with 10 and 5 rounds of ammunition respectively,” the statement stated further.

The arrested suspect is currently in police custody, awaiting the necessary legal procedures before facing charges in court.

“The suspect is currently cooling his heels at a police facility awaiting the necessary legal procedures before appearing in court,” stated the DCI.
