The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has launched a manhunt for a suspect linked to Ksh60 million bank fraud.

Detectives from the Land Fraud Investigations Unit are looking for Ali Noor Abdi over an alleged conspiracy to defraud African Banking Corporation Limited (ABC) Nairobi, Ksh60 million.

According to DCI, the suspect and his son identified as Abdi Hamza Ali Noor conspired to defraud the bank on diverse dates between July 1, 2014, and April 7, 2020.

Noor has already been arraigned in court for the offence.

The father, who is still at large, is also wanted for forgery.

“A warrant for his arrest has since been issued by the Milimani Chief magistrate’s court,” DCI said in a statement.

The George Kinoti-led directorate urges members of the public to volunteer information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect.

“Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is invited to volunteer it through the #FichuakwaDCI toll-free number 0800, 722 203 or the nearest police station for action,” DCI added.

DCI has in recent years intensified the war against fraud in the country amid a worrying trend.

In July, police launched a manhunt for a suspect wanted for forging a land title in Nairobi.

Abdirahman Mohammed Abdi was declared a wanted man following a warrant of arrest issued against him by Senior Principal Magistrate’s Court Milimani on September 21, 2020, in criminal case number 121/190/2020.

Land fraud

The land in question is located in the South C area of Nairobi County.

“The man on the run is wanted for forgery of title document, forcible detainer, and obtaining registration of land by false pretenses in connection with 3.01 hectares of land located in South C, Nairobi County,” a statement by DCI read in part.
